I loved her as Chani in Dune too. Though the skintight stillsuit may have had something to do with that…

  5. Many years ago I was working in Hollywood, living downtown and returning there by bus regularly around 2am or so. One (winter?) night, I was heading home down Broadway, I think, near the Million Dollar Theater … and there was Bladerunner being shot on the street. They used floats to create those noodleshops and other street fixtures, false facades were attached to the buildings. I was mesmerized, naturally.

It’s not a bad film, especially in light of the usual american rubbish sci-fi, then and now. But what is often overlooked is how much the film is about a certain, rather private vision of Los Angeles, a city rooted in the Pacific Rim and the decaying American Dream at the same time. Also, it captured the humid, foggy ambience of the LA winter nightscape perfectly.

Please, god, don’t let them do a remake!

You have an excellent blog, love the stills, very well chosen!
